Pretty Florals Wedding Invitation; Mimosa Letterpress

Earlier this summer, we had the pleasure of working on a customisation of the Mimosa Design by Bella Figura for Antonia & Rory’s wedding. The pretty details of the Mimosa design suited their style perfectly – their suite included Save the Date sized Invitations printed on 2 Ply Cotton. We love the softness of the pretty floral design which look great in this couple’s colours!!

These letterpress invitations were printed in powder blue and pewter inks onto luxury thick white cotton paper (2 Ply). The fonts used here were Nysa + Utrecht.

Choosing Your Letterpress Wedding Stationery Pieces; Pre- Wedding

There is no better opportunity for a couple to inject some of their  unique personalities and senses of style to their special day, than in the invitation suite! This makes choosing the perfect invitation really fun and exciting. But there are so many different elements that go along with the invitation to make up wedding stationery that it can also be quite confusing and sometimes even overwhelming for couples when they first start to plan their wedding! Choosing which pieces are needed can be difficult! So to save you any further confusion and help make choosing your perfect invitation suite as fun and exciting as it should be we have decided to share some of our most popular letterpress pieces and how they are used to get you started.

Aberdeen Letterpress Suite

Wedding stationery can be divided into three categories, pre-wedding stationery, wedding day stationery and post wedding stationery. So as not to overload you, today we will look at pre wedding stationery and continue to on-the-day stationery and post wedding stationery over the next couple of mondays.

Save the Date

You’ve set the date, now its time to tell the world!
A Save the Date <Aberdeen shown below> is a card sent to your guests usually six to twelve months in advance of your wedding to let them know that they are to be invited and should literally ‘save the date’.  This allows guests to plan travel arrangements, accommodation, holidays, childcare etc. in advance and is particularly useful when you have a lot of out of town/ overseas guests.  Wouldn’t it be very disappointing to think that more of your family and friends could have come to your wedding if only they were given more notice! An invitation suite is a set of complimentary pieces so if you have chosen your theme/ colour scheme it would be a nice touch to co-ordinate your Save the Date’s, but don’t worry if you haven’t decided on any of that at this stage, it is not necessary!

Invitation
The invitation <Chapin design shown> is a card or a set of cards (see below) that formally invites your guests to your wedding. The invitation usually sent out six to ten weeks in advance will let guests know who is hosting the wedding, the names of the bride and groom and the date, time and location of the ceremony, the exact wording is determined by the formality of the event. If the reception is being held in the same venue a line will be printed to say “reception to follow” but it is becoming increasingly popular for the invitation to be accompanied by other pieces

  • Reception Card
Let your guests know there is going to be a party afterwards.  Reception Cards are optional as these details could be included on the main invitation but it is good to use a separate reception card , particularly if the reception is to be held at a different location to the ceremony. The reception card will always include the address and the time, but may also include other details such as black tie, cocktails, dinner, dancing etc.
  • Accommodation Card
This piece again optional also accompanies the main invitation and provides a great way to recommend hotel/ accommodation options, especially if you have managed to reserve a special hotel discount for your guests.

RSVP Card
RSVP Cards/ Response Cards (Lovebirds shown below) are also included with the main invitation and are used to gather information from your guests. A response date is determined by the couple and listed as the date by which guests must reply. Couples will generally just want to confirm whether or not guests will be attending or not, but you may also wish to be informed of any dietary requirements/ allergies your guests have. These details are quite helpful when finalizing plans with caterers and vendors.

Next week on-the-day wedding stationery, from ceremony booklets to favour tags we’ve got it covered. Let us know if you are following and if you have any particular questions about wedding stationery we can help with.
