We were thrilled to be asked to present at The Wedding Ideas Workshop at the Radisson Blu Galway – inspiration for stunning weddings!

He proposed, you said yes… and now what happens? The Wedding Ideas Workshop at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa Galway is a fantastic creative addition to your wedding preparations, designed to boost your own style confidence by bringing together a carefully selected group of wedding vendors who are passionate about what they do, and a fun afternoon of where everyone has the chance to chat, exchange information and ask questions in a friendly and relaxed setting.

Featuring the award-winning gorgeous invites and stationery of letterpress specialists Pretty as a Picture, the wonderful wedding cakes of Galway’s finest bakers, Goya, the magnificent floral creations of florist Henk Van Enk and his two Go Dutch flower shops, and the professional expertise of wedding planner extraordinaire Claire Barry and her White Sage company, the Wedding Ideas Workshop at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa Galway will get all attendees enthusiastic and excited about a creative and stylish DIY approach to their nuptials!

Not only will guests have the opportunity to meet the talented and interesting suppliers and experts from the world of weddings, but there are also fabulous visual themes to admire and enjoy, as tables will be dressed by Pearl & Godiva, bespoke event and wedding stylists, using some of their exquisite selection of vintage china and objects to create unique and individual wedding settings, and who will also be discussing the selection and implementation of clever, pretty and unusual wedding themes.

We are delighted to announce that Pretty as a Picture are coming to Cork on Saturday the 19th of January to be a part of The Spectacular Vintage Fair at the Imperial Hotel. We will be showcasing a selection of our invitation designs and also offering a limited number of appointments to Munster brides.

The White Event – Wedding Inspiration

A couple of weeks ago, we were thrilled to be invited to design some custom wedding stationery for The White Event, Dublin – an inspirational and fun evening for Irish brides. Hosted by The Bridal Lounge and Brosnan Photographic, the talented girls transformed La Catedral Studios in the City Centre into the wedding showcase that was The White Event. They demonstrated how to inject some of your personal tastes and personalities into your wedding with some imagination, creativity and lets face it a little bit of graft too!!!

Styled by the Bridal Lounge, we helped to bring their vision to life along with some of Irelands most creative suppliers including Best of Buds, Cloudberry Bakery, Dirty Fabulous, Covet, Me Auld China, and Caterhire. Two different themes were styled – Rustic Country and Modern Chic. We created custom stationery for the Rustic Country look below…

The cakes provided by Cloudberry Bakery were to die for -  if I was getting married again…!!

The modern chic table used an eclectic mix of colour that really stood out. And how I loved the old typewriter used as part of the guestbook – beautiful!!

Brides and grooms-to-be were treated to talks from guest speakers, Ciara from Style Serendipity, Naoise from One Fab Day, Claire from White Sage and Deirdre of Ruby and Bloom. They shared their experience of the Irish wedding world, each with a different specialist background, offering amazing tips and opening the floor to questions.

The White Event

Calling all brides-to-be! We are delighted to be helping to style the White Event – a creative venture by Brosnan Photographic and The Bridal Lounge. The White Event is a fresh concept in wedding inspiration and education. This event will bring together brides and vendors with the same goal – to create unique, fun, non traditional weddings. We believe every wedding should be beautiful and above all personal to the couple getting married.

The White Event will be an intimate evening of inspiration, banter, and tasty treats. There are some fab ladies in the wedding industry who will be speaking on current trends, ideas, and giving helpful tips for your big day.

Here’s the guest speaker lineup:

Ciara O’Halloran (Style Serendipity) – Ciara will be sharing her personal experience of breaking away from a traditional wedding.

Naoise McNally (One Fab Day) – Naoise is going to give us tips on finding the right vendors to suit your budget and style.

Jemma Cassidy (Hip Hip) – Jemma will be spilling the beans on all the latest trends from the States to help us find our inspiration.

Deirdre Hynes (Ruby & Bloom) – Deirdre will be giving her planning and styling tips to help you create a personal and individual wedding.

If that isn’t enough they will be styling the event to perfection to add extra inspiration and get your creative juices flowing. We like to think of it as a ‘mini wedding’ and you’ll be the guest! Other fab vendors include Cloudberry Bakery, Me Auld China, Dirty Fabulous, Best of Buds Florists, and many more.

What you’ll get from The White Event is new ideas, ways to create and communicate your vision, and a relaxed evening of sharing. There will be open discussions and time to chat with the creative vendors involved.

When? Tuesday the 24th of April. 18:30 to 21:30.

Where? The Back Loft at La Catedral Studios on Saint Augustine Street in Dublin.

Why The White Event? The alternative wedding industry took America by storm and it’s slowly making it’s way overseas. We’ve seen a need to help brides find their inspiration and create something totally original. We’re here to help you find ways of creating what you’re seeing abroad in a way that can be translated on Irish soil with Irish weather for Irish couples.

Tips for attending a wedding show

Its Bridal Show Time!! This weekend the RDS will fill with hundreds of Irish wedding vendors, bride and grooms for the Bride of the Year Show- Ireland’s longest established wedding show and one of the most popular wedding shows of the year.  Pretty as a Picture will be there on stand s4 displaying our collections of letterpress and digital wedding stationery and (after last years great response) holding a comp to win a wedding dress portrait as well as offering some great special offers!! This is a great opportunity to meet our team who will be available to answer all your invitation and stationery needs.  And we are really excited at the opportunity to meet lots of wonderful engaged couples! Here’s some tips for attending the show-

Make a day of it- Enjoy
Get your groom, bridesmaids or your mum to join you at the show. Being with company will make it more fun- and get them to enter competitions for you for double the entries :)

Know your dates

Avail of on the day discounts
A wedding show is a great opportunity to save time and money on your wedding as many exhibitors (including us) will be offering special discounts!

Sign up for competitions & newsletters
Make sure you get to avail of any special offers/ updates etc. during the year from your favourite wedding vendors.

And the winner is…Wedding Dress Portrait Competition

Today we would like to congratulate Therese Madden, winner of our Wedding Dress Portrait Competition. Therese came to see us at this months Wedding & Honeymoon Show, where she entered the draw. Working from photographs, Ailbhe will recreate Therese’s dress as an oil painting on canvas and Therese will have an elegant piece of custom artwork to cherish for years to come.

Pretty as a Picture on the road!

We had such a busy and of course fun weekend at the Wedding & Honeymoon Show in the RDS at the weekend! Now that we are home and us (and our studio) are just about recovering I wanted to show you a few pictures of the Pretty as a Picture Stand.  Having only exhibited at this Show once before in January, our second time was an absolute great success!! It was an amazing opportunity to meet lots of wonderful engaged couples and introduce to them to our letterpress invitation and stationery designs and to all of our other exciting products including our Wedding Dress Portraits, Guest Tree, Wedding Dress Boxes & Wish Tree Tags.

Long before the weekend of the show the Pretty as a Picture team were busy planning how best to showcase all of our designs and trying to visualise our stand, so we were really excited and also a bit relieved after a long set-up day to see it all finished and pretty. We can hardly believe its wedding show time again! The Wedding & Honeymoon Show  kicks off tomorrow Sept 3rd in the RDS and we will be there.
